Here is your Bentonville Itinerary for museums.  Ready to explore the fantastic museums in Bentonville? This list includes an American art museum, children’s museum, Native American museum, and a museum dedicated to Walmart are all featured in this Itinerary. Put on some comfortable shoes and be prepared for a fun-filled day.

Let’s get going:

Coffee – You’re going to need some caffeine for your day ahead. Stop by Onyx Coffee Lab just off the Downtown Square or Heroes Coffee on SW 8th St. Great way to instantly jolt your senses to full attention. 

Breakfast – Coffee won’t be enough, time to get some nourishment. Ozark Mountain Bagel Co, also just off the Downtown Square, features New York-style bagels. For pastries, breads and the Big Ten Breakfast menu, check out Table Mesa’s Bakery right on the Downtown Square. For a full, sit down breakfast, visit the Pressroom (has patio seating where you can capture the hustle and bustle of the city) or visit The Hive at 21c Museum hotel (features refined country cooking designed by award winning chef, Matthew McClure.

BENTONVILLE MUSEUMS

Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art

Set on 120 acres of plush Northwest Arkansas countryside in the heart of Bentonville, this world-class museum’s collection spans five centuries, and includes art from outstanding artists across the centuries. You’ll see Rockwell’s Rosie The Riveter, O’keeffe’s Jimson Weed and Asher B. Durand’s Kindred Spirits. Take a guided tour of the free permanent collection or walk at your own pace. Take your time, this is a not to be missed Bentonville Museum, and one that makes a lasting impression. Time 1 – 3 hours.

Lunch/Coffee Break – Get a refreshing coffee or beverage or dine at Eleven, the onsite restaurant within Crystal Bridges. Has floor to ceiling windows and features a stunning view of the lovely pond and museum structure. Great place to relax and refresh yourself before heading over to the next museum on the list.

The Momentary

General admission is free, and close to Crystal Bridges. Walk through at your own pace. This is a contemporary museum to Crystal Bridges, featuring the art and music of our present time. Exhibitions are constantly changing, and the atmosphere is vibrant and energetic. There is a beer bar, cafe and rooftop bar (best experienced at night). Super place to visit to see the many art expressions running through the country. Time 30 min – 1 hour.

Museum of Native American History

Located at 202 SW O St,  this amazing museum spans 14,000 years of the America’s, from the early paleo period through the historic period. The exhibits are beautifully displayed,  as you walk at your own pace. The museum houses more than 10,000 of the very best Native American artifacts in the country. If you are interested in Native American History, this is your chance to get many of your questions answered. Admission is free. Time 1 – 2 hours.

The Walmart Museum

Located on the Historic Downtown Square, this interactive museum tells the story of Sam Walton and Walmart. See Sam’s old office and desk, view the early beginnings of Walmart and see its unparalleled growth to the big box giant it is today. Whether you’re a Walmart fan or not, this is a terrific example of the American dream come true. Admission is free. Time 45 min – 1 ½  hours.

Scott Family Amazeum

If you have children in your group, this interactive museum and playground is just the ticket. Kids can visit an interactive farm, walk a high flying net, explore and learn about science and so much more. Watch your little one’s eyes light up as they move from station to station. Fee based. Time 1 ½ to 2 ½ hours.

LATE AFTERNOON

Wine & Cocktails – After visiting Bentonville’s museums, time to take a welcome break. Ramo d’Olivo has a great wine list and a classy new lounge, and Tavola Trattoria has a long wine list and a full bar.

Dinner – Table Mesa Bistro (Latin), Bar Cleeta (upscale, unique concept with small plates), Tavola Trattoria (Italian), Preacher’s Son (American) or The Hive (American) are all on or near the Downtown Square, and they are all highly recommended.

NIGHTLIFE

Hotspots – Pedaler’s Pub (cyclists-friendly with large deck and live music), 8th St Market with Bike Rack Brewing Co and Taproom has cold craft beer, live music, food trucks and games. The rooftop bar at The Momentary has a full bar and a great view of the city and Meteor Guitar Gallery has weekly performances, live music and drinks.
