Eureka Springs Itinerary #2 – for Art Lovers

Take your time getting up and have a tasty, filling breakfast at your B&B, or maybe take a stroll down to the Mud Street Café, where from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., it serves up some of the freshest food in town.

Tour the local galleries, which are mostly located all along the winding streets of the downtown shopping area. There are more than 20 galleries in Eureka Springs supplied by an excess of 400 local artists. You may be fortunate enough to see some of the artists at work. Artists of every medium are represented. You’ll find award-winning painters, potters, jewelers, sculptors of steel and stone, weavers, woodworkers, woodcarvers, scrimshanders, decoupers and tole painters.

Take a break from gallery hopping and visit the Keels Creek Winery at the beautiful Spanish-styled Keels Creek Art Gallery. The two massive stone fireplaces provide a perfect setting to relax and enjoy a glass of wine. There are both tasting and retail rooms at the gallery where you can taste and then purchase the perfect bottle of vino.

Grab a light lunch at one of the wonderful little restaurants along the main drag of Eureka Springs. Many have patio seating overlooking the bustling street below.

Relax and rejuvenate at one of Eureka Spring’s state-of-the-art spas, such as the Serenity Spa and Salon located on the second floor of the Basin Park Hotel. Specialties include duet massage, wasabi body wrap, massage therapies, skin treatments, manicures, pedicures, foot maintenance and facials. If you prefer, you may simply sunbathe on the deck.

For dinner, have the meal of a lifetime at one of the award-winning restaurants in Eureka Springs. The Bavarian Inn features German, Eastern European and American cuisine; the Local Flavor features American, Italian and Vegetarian; These are just a small sampling of the fine-dining restaurants in Eureka Springs.

Finish your day with Opera in the Ozarks located at Inspiration Point about 7 miles from Eureka Springs. Opera in the Ozarks began in 1950 as a school for young opera students; it continues that tradition today. Only internationally acclaimed productions are performed by the all-student cast.
