Spotlight on The Power of Music Festival, April 27th – 29th, in Bentonville, Arkansas. Everyone is looking forward with great anticipation to the upcoming inaugural Power of Music festival where local and regional songwriters will have a chance to mix and mingle with successful songwriters from around the globe. Fans will have an opportunity to hear songs that have been written by famous and local songwriters. Nothing like this has ever been done in Northwest Arkansas.
Betsy Brumley, Chairwoman of the Power of Music Festival, answers specific questions about the festival below:
Whose brainchild and how did the Power of Music Festival begin?
The Power of Music Festival is the brain child of Kevin Bernier and Betsy Brumley, the husband and wife team, who founded the I’ll Fly Away Foundation, which runs the festival.
What did you want to accomplish by launching the Power of Music Festival?
The goal for the Power of Music Festival is to create a truly different musical experience for the people of NWA.
What do you want your fans to experience at this first Power of Music Festival?
We want fans to experience up front and personal the inner workings of the song writing process, and we also want them to have a great time at the musical events.
What did you want to accomplish by launching the Power of Music Festival?
The Festival will be bringing songwriters from around the world, as well as, local songwriters together to celebrate the art of songwriting. Songwriters will be paired up into 2 or 3’s and will share the stories behind the songs they have written, then they will sing them acoustically. Aspiring songwriters will have an opportunity to meet successful songwriters and learn from them.
What makes this festival different/unique from other music festivals?
One hundred percent of the funds raised during the festival will be invested back into the lives of the children of NWA. Panels will include informational panels including some of the top music industry executives in the world. They will be sharing advice on how to create a successful music environment in the NWA area, and they will also be sharing tips on how to be successful in the music business.
What is the heart and soul of the Power of Music Festival?
The founders hope that through participation in the Power of Music Festival panels, musicians and songwriters will discover the tools they need to be successful in the music business, and in so doing, a culture conducive to the development of an expanded music scene in NWA is fostered.
What makes you the most excited about the Power of Music Festival?
We are excited about being able to help the children of NWA through music.
