Come Join the FUN!!!!
Ticket sales for the inaugural Bentonville Film Festival are brisk. In fact, the first allotment of tickets have already been sold to national, regional and local movie fans. Texas and Oklahoma fans were particularly well represented in the offering of ticket sales. Trevor Drinkwater, co-founder of the festival, said the tickets “sold much better than we were expecting.”
Movie lovers should not worry though, you can purchase individual tickets for the festival films that will be shown May 5 – 9. Click here to buy individual tickets. As the next couple of weeks progress, more information will be released concerning the various movie schedules, the names of jurors and the local venues where the movies will be shown.
The Bentonville location was selected for several reasons including its rapidly expanding cultural setting, its central location in the U.S. and its closeness to Wal-Mart, a huge corporate sponsor. AMC Theaters and Wal-Mart guarantee the winning films a distribution deal.
BFF gives people from across the country and the world the opportunity to see NWA area attractions including 21c Museum Hotel and Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Drinkwater, chief executive officer of ARC Entertainment, the presenting sponsor for the festival says that almost 100,000 tickets will be sold for the festival and other events related to it. He estimates 25,000 people will visit the inaugural BFF events.
A second chance to get in on the fun will occur on April 13th when a limited number of festival tickets will again be offered. During the first round of ticket offerings, single film passes were $95 and all-inclusive passes were about $300.
Although all the festival films have been selected, the titles have not been revealed. Among other requirements, each film selected must feature either cast or crew members who are either minorities or female. These requirements allign perfectly with the aim of the Geena Davis Institure of Women in Media, an organization that plays a huge part in the festival. Compelling narrative films will be shown along with many documentaries.
Other details on related BFF events have emerged including information about the, open to the public, sponsor’s village. The village will feature industry products and services. As one of the BFF’s sponsors, The Northwest Arkansas Travel Guide will have a booth in the sponsor village, be sure to stop by and say hello.
In addition, local and regional music acts will entertain between films and there will also be panel discussions featuring industry leaders. Although many guests havened been announced, the known stars attending the festival will include Rosie O’Donnell, Robert DeNiro and Bruce Dern.
